#029 GAD BA5: Advanced Game-play/Structures

Next up, I wanted to go into the advanced game-play, listing the structures and units within the game along with a description as to what they do, how the player uses them, as well as some information around them.

Advanced Gameplay:
Diverse game styles allow for a mix of casual and tactical strategist to player Mechwarrior Destruction. Knowing what to build, in which order as well as when to build it/them can give you those few seconds that you need to win the game. There are different structures and units that perform different roles, some less helpful than others until you find their most efficient deployment.

Structures:
Command Module:
The Command Module is the foundation of a base and allows the construction of other buildings. Without it, you cannot build any new structures. Structures built take more resources, depending on the distance from the Command Module due to the underground networks connecting them to the command module. It is the main structure of the base and must be protected at all costs!

Fusion Reactor:
This structure provides power for your base. As the base is expanded, you will also have to build
additional reactors to power it. Certain structures and base defences will not function if you have no power, rendering them useless.

DBSM (Deep Bore Surface Mine):
The Deep Bore Surface Mine is a resource gathering structure. It tunnels deep underground, branching out like a tree root, to gather metals used for construction of structures and mechs. A refinery must be placed within it’s radius to refine the metal ore gathered for a player to reap it’s benefit.

Refinery:
Refineries are structures that process metal ore collected by the DBSM, turning it into usable metal ingots that can be used construct new units and structures. The Refinery must be placed within the outer radius of a mine and receives a bonus if placed within two of them.

Operations Centre:
The Operations Centre provides the player with a radar view of the map (mini-map), which also detects incoming attacks (Mech’s or Missiles). It also unlocks the Mech Factory, which allows players to begin building Mechs.

Mech Factory:
The Mech Factory is where players can construct light to heavy Mechs. It takes a large amount of power to run and depending on what Mech is being built, a considerable amount of resources.

Robotics Lab:
The Robotics Lab allows players to upgrade their Mechs in ways such as speed, heat dissipation (for weapons) as well as armour. The lab also unlocks the third stage base defences.

Weapons Facility:
The Weapons Facility is much like the Robotics Lab in that it is essentially an upgrade centre. With the facility players can upgrade their Mechs weapon systems as well as unlock the fourth stage base defences.

Mech Hub:
The Mech Hub is a large structure that can repair and re-arm Mechs. Mechs can be damaged in battle, as well as use up ammunition, which without, a Mech is defenceless. The Mech Hub also allows players to build Repair Mechs and Re-Arm Mechs from their Mech Factory (see Support Units).

AEF (Advanced Engineering Facility):
The Advanced Engineering Facility gives players the ability to construct Assault Class Mechs. Due to their sheer size, a larger area than in the Mech Factory is required to construct them, which is why the AEF is required to built them. Once constructed, the AEF unlocks the forth and final stage of base defences, as well as the ability to upgrade the fusion reactor.

In addition to the ability to build assault mechs, the AEF allows players to build Mobile Battle Bases (see Support Units).

LRM Mounted Defence:
The LRM Mounted Defence is a structure that can fire missiles at enemy Mechs from a long distance. Able to rain fire down on top of enemy Mechs, this base defences can be very effective.

Laser Cannon Mounted Defence:
Singular to Quad mounted laser cannons mounted on a defence structure, able to hit Mechs at a medium distance as long as they are in line of sight.

SRM Mounted Defence:
Very much like the LRM Mounted Defence, the SRM Mounted Defence is able to fire multiple missiles at enemy Mechs. It’s range is much shorter than that of the LRM, however the missiles it fires travel at a much faster velocity.

AMS Mounted Defence:
The AMS system is designed to shoot down enemy missiles. It is a single to quad mounted machine gun, depending on the upgrade level, that are effective in shooting down enemy LRM’s as well as shooting down SRM’s (but slightly less effectively due to the speed of the SRM).
