The next step for me is to import my model in to UDK, which I found surprisingly simple. First I exported my model as a .fbx file. I made sure that I had the boxes ticked for Smoothing Groups, Smooth Mesh, and Triangulate.
I then opened up UDK and imported my model into a new package, making sure to name everything clearly as I went along. While exporting I ticked the boxes "Import Materials" and "Import Textures", which would transfer my textures used in Maya to UDK and apply them correctly.
I then dragged my model from the content browser on to the screen and hey presto, I now have my model in UDK! See below:
For the purpose of documentation I have provided some screenshots of my model within UDK. I will also be handing in the appropriate files and packages so that they can be opened in UDK by my tutors as further proof.
